A young female grizzly barrels along an icy Yukon river courtesy of 🇨🇦 photographer Paul Nicklen.
Cheers for sharing, Paul. We love your work!“Cold Pursuit" / Even with my shutter speed cranked all the way up, I managed to capture only a few images of this young grizzly barreling up the icy river in the heart of Canada’s Yukon. She had clearly heard or smelled some looming threat beyond the pines that sent her racing for cover. Yet even at 1/1,000th of a second, she was a perfect portrait of power, speed, and grace to my eyes. Juvenile bears spend much of their lives on the run, dodging the paws of protective mothers and the giant male bears that guard the best fishing spots for themselves. Today, this bear is probably an older female with a few cubs of her own already grown. But within this print, she remains a reflection of those thrilling and harrowing years that define adolescence.

If you love Canadian wild cats like we do, you may enjoy this image of a lynx by Kevin Smith of Wild Wild West Photography
Speaking of wild cats, a friend recently recommended “The Velvet Queen” to us.
It’s a brilliant documentary about a travelling photographer’s pursuit of the elusive snow leopard in the Tibetan Highlands.
If you haven’t seen this thoughtful film, which feels especially relevant given the times, do yourself a favour in 2023 and give it a watch.
We promise you won’t regret it.
Meanwhile, amazing shot Kevin and cheers to David Attenborough Fans for putting the image on our radar.Canadian Lynx

Cheers to 🇨🇦 photographer Dave Sandford for posting his polar “bear hug” image.
It gave us all the feels, so as we wrap up 2022, we thought we should share it here with you too.
Nice work Dave, and all the best to everyone in 2023! T&C‘The Bear Hug’ one of my most popular of my images in recent years. This image makes me think of Christmas time for some reason and given we are in the thick of the holiday season, it felt appropriate to share today. Be sure to grab hold of your loved ones this season and give them a big bear hug.
