As we launch into the new year, we bring you “O-Canada Nice Rack, Eh?” — a painting by our favourite Canadian folk artist Timothy Wilson Hoey.
Hoey, a Victoria-based painter who enjoys using moose as subjects because they are the “weirdest and coolest animal all at once,” has just completed 150 works of Canadiana-inspired art for an exhibition teed up to travel from Victoria’s Trounce Alley Gallery to the Elevation Gallery in Canmore and then to Saskatoon’s Rouge Gallery.
His motivation? To celebrate Canada’s upcoming 150th birthday, of course.
It was once said that if Hoey were any more Canadian, he’d be a doughnut — which makes him perfect fodder for us over here at Toque & Canoe.
As always, a privilege to feature you on our pages, Tim. We look forward to more collaborations in 2017!
